Can AI Help Understand Reader Happiness?

A novel, a poem or a short digital text can give readers access to emotional patterns, memories, atmospheres and possible lives that transcend the limits of their own lives.

But different novels and poems manage, or fail, to do this magic feat at different degrees. Can we measure the textual properties that contribute to this expansion of experience?

My current work explores this question with narrative arcs, sentiment patterns, sensory language, reader engagement, literary quality and human–AI collaboration. My long horizon is to build a precise vocabulary for describing how texts move, immerse, comfort, disturb and transform readers.
